Experiential learning is a pedagogical approach that emphasizes learning through direct experience and reflection, rather than traditional methods such as lectures or readings. It involves actively engaging with a situation, reflecting on that experience, and then applying those insights to new situations. This approach fosters a deeper understanding, skill development, and personal growth.
Part One: The 8 Key Concepts Covered
First, in months one and two, we review the Eight Key Concepts that form the foundation of the systems and processes we teach.
Delivery Method: These lessons are delivered live once a week, with recordings available for your convenience.
Time Commitment: 2 hours per topic/per week

Part Two: The 4 Teaching Systems
Then, in months three and four, we cover the Four Hard Skills—the technical skills required to perform a train-the-trainer function. This develops performance competency across your Training Programs, Lesson Planning, and Individual Training Sessions.
Delivery Method: Each topic is presented as an individual lesson in Week One and Week Three of each month. These lessons are delivered live, with recordings available for your convenience.
Time Commitment: 4/5 hours for each topic.
Module 1: The Client & Their Pet Training System
The System: Train-Test-Train
- Focus: Supporting clients with effective training criteria decisions.
- Key Concept: Implementing the “Train-Test-Train” loop to ensure mechanical precision and appropriate criteria setting during sessions.
Module 2: Your System for Teaching & Training Clients
The System: On-Task Skill Coaching
- Focus: The Experiential Learning approach for client sessions.
- Key Concept: Moving beyond lecturing by using coaching mechanics to facilitate “learning by doing” for the human end of the leash.
Module 3: Behavior Case Management
The System: DMAIC for Dog Trainers
- Focus: A systematic, data-driven approach to behavior modification.
- Key Concept: Adapting the Six Sigma methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) to create objective, scientifically sound behavior plans.
Module 4: The Client Training Program Guide
The System: MTR (Management, Training, Relationship)
- Focus: Putting it all together—Program development, lesson planning, and session instruction.
- Key Concept: A systematic approach to designing comprehensive training programs that integrate all necessary components in a structured manner.
Part Three: The 10 Soft Skills Included
In months five and six, we develop the Ten Key Soft Skills – The personal attributes and interpersonal skills that influence how you interact with others. These are presented as individual modules.
Delivery Method: A single topic is delivered as a single lesson each week. You can attend and complete each lesson on your schedule
