When a pet is anxious, scared, or even aggressive, a professional must use a specific set of behavior modification protocols; you can’t simply train away these behaviors because underlying emotions cause them. To change, reduce, and modify observed behaviors, such as fear or aggression, we need to change the underlying emotions. We do this through desensitization and counterconditioning procedures.
